The stories written by Beatrix Potter have captivated young readers for decades. Her love of animals and nature is so intricately captured in her detailed artwork, and her observations and studies are reflected in the characters of her stories.

Website Development

As well as celebrating the life of Beatrix Potter, this site also serves as an example of the following DHTML and Javascript features used in website development:

• Dropdown HVMenu - the main navigation bar uses linked Javascript coding to create the rollover states and the dropdown sub-navigation for the Full Stories link
• Style Switcher - the style of the page can be changed by using the Javascript-coded Page Styles options in the upper right corner. By selecting "Kids", the page text can be changed to a larger font for easier reading and the body background is given a subtle pattern
• Visible/Hidden Element - the Page Style options have been additionally coded with Javascript to allow the style selections to be hidden or visible by selecting "Hide" or "Show"
• Random Image Manipulation - The image in the left side bar utilizes Javascript coding to randomly change the displayed image from a selection of ten images
